Inaugural Battle For The Real Big State Alumni Charity Game Coming August 2023

The Rivalry Renewed! The inaugural Battle For The Real Big State Charity Baseball Game is set for Saturday, August 26 at Shepherd Stadium in Colonial Heights, VA. Rival HBCU's Norfolk State University and Virginia State University will face off on the diamond at 1pm with gates opening at 12 noon.

Tickets are $15 for adults ages 18 and up, $7 for youth ages 11-17, and children 10 and under are admitted free of charge. The first 50 students from each university (VSU and NSU) with a valid student ID will also be admitted free.

All proceeds from the game will benefit both athletic programs. The event is being organized by an executive team for Battle For The Real Big State led by Mike Burd, Roger Hall, and Matt Boone, in partnership with MG Studios LLC, and the two Universities Athletic Departments in partnership with the Boosters Clubs of both Universities.

This inaugural baseball battle will serve as a prelude to the Labor Day Classic football game between the NSU Spartans and VSU Trojans set for September 2. University officials and organizers hope this new baseball rivalry will grow into an annual tradition that brings the two communities together for a great cause while enjoying an exciting collegiate athletic event.

Fans are encouraged to wear their school colors and cheer on the Spartans and Trojans during what is sure to be a hard-fought and memorable first Battle For The Real Big State baseball game. Come out and support two of Virginia's finest Historically Black Colleges and Universities while helping raise funds for both programs, once again bringing excitement to HBCU Baseball.
